![]() UPDATE: Casting at Tree 1 seems to work just as well when you starting hitting 7-9 PM Some people still catch trouts in closer water.) It's up to you and I recommend you do, but try it for yourself. (Note: You don't have to reel fast after 30 ft. After that just hold shift and reel in at max speed and recast. I have caught many trout in the 30-40ft's. I suggest to keep your bait in the water until 30ft. If you try max casts and they bite around 100 then keep throwing it far. If most trouts are biting at around 70 then throw 80 or 90. Try both and see which spot works best for you. Since then I have began throwing it to about 80~90. How Far Do You Cast?: When I started I threw my lure almost max (about 110). If you have a casting reel you may want to ask around but I do believe it is the same (reeling speed at 1/4 and drag to 2/6). But if you're using the spinning reel I suggested (or one similar) then set your reeling speed to slow (1/4) and your drag to 2/6. ![]() Most people stay within the 4th and 5th tree, I suggest you do the same since it seems to work for most people.ĭrag & Reel Speed: This could change from reel to reel. Once you know what the "4th tree" is just cast directly under it. Starting from the left, count 4 trees right. Where To Cast: It's hard to describe where to cast, so most people will just say "the 4th tree from the left." "4th tree." But I will show you what they're/we are talking about. Keep in mind that it probably doesn't matter where you stand, but this spot works best for me. If you want to stand where I do, I stand on a rock. For this guide, we will be going to Ferntastic Fishing. Once you are at Colorado, you will have two choices. You only have to buy the Advanced License for Colorado, since all we will be fishing is trouts we won't need a basic license.
